WHERE IS HE NOW?
IKF Honors Another Great One!

Troy Dorsey
Mansfield, Texas, USA

To those who were around when he was fighting, to us,
Troy Dorsey was best known for holding World titles in both Professional boxer and Professional Kickboxer at the
SAME TIME.

Troy was born and raised in Mansfield, Texas. In 1973, at the age of ten, Troy began his martial arts training in karate and Tae Kwon Do and in 1979 became a black belt. In 1981, Troy Dorsey's Karate opened in Dallas, Texas. He has studied Martial Arts and Boxing for nearly 30 years. He competed in the bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight divisions and through it all won 3 World titles in Kickboxing (2 ISKA, PKO & WAKO) & 3 World titles in Boxing (IBF & IBO)

He retired from fighting in 1998 with a Kickboxing record of 33-2 with 25 of his wins coming by KO/TKO. After a fast start in professional boxing brought his record to 12-3-4 with 9 wins by KO/TKO, the second half of his boxing career saw a decline going 4-12. However, in his defense, in the second half of his professional boxing career he faced top opponents such as Oscar De La Hoya, Jesús Chávez, Gabriel Ruelas and Kevin Kelley.

When all was said and done, it was not hard for many to consider Troy one of the best all around fighters in the world.

Troy is actively involved in the community through his karate studio. He participated in the building and is a former honorary board member of Jonathan's Place which is a home for drug exposed children in Dallas. In 1997, Troy received the Outstanding Volunteer Award for Celebrity/Community Leader from Jonathan's Place. Each year Troy is involved with fund raisers for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Leukemia Society, Boy Scouts of America, Chuck Norris's Kick Start Program and North Texas Food Bank.

Troy is also available for public speaking on topics such as
self-discipline, respect, self-control and drug and alcohol abuse.

Today Troy resides in Mansfield Texas with his wife, Leslie and two daughters Kendra and Shelly. His martial arts school is also in Mansfield, Texas and you can find out more at his website at

IKF CALIFORNIA FIGHTERS AND TRAINERS!
MEDICAL SAFETY INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Despite what you have been told by ANYONE at ANY other Fight event, in or out of California,

"MEDICAL ISSUES DO CROSS STATE LINES!!!"

If you fight on an "OUT OF CALIFORNIA" event, and get stopped by TKO, KO or Injury, you "WILL" be given a "Minimum" 30 day health and safety Medical suspension.
It is "YOUR" responsibility as an IKF CA Licensed Fighter and your "TRAINERS" Responsibility as an IKF CA Licensed Trainer to inform the IKF if you have been stopped by TKO, KO or Injury EVERY TIME so that the IKF can note this minimum suspension with your listing on the IKF CA Fighters page. If you do not report this, and you book yourself for an event, and do not divulge that you have been stopped by TKO, KO or injury within the last "6 MONTHS" you WILL be Suspended for a Minimum of 6 months up to Indefinitely, TRAINERS TOO!

This is why we have EVERY fighter on an IKF event fill out a fighter update form which has questions like this one:

MEDICAL SAFETY
Have you suffered any knockouts (KO's), technical knockout's (TKO's) loss of consciousness or been stopped or injured
IN THE LAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THIS EVENT in a bout, sparring or in any other activity? _____YES _____NO

CLICK HERE FOR NEW IKF CA FIGHTER LICENSE FORM

We DO NOT take Medical issues lightly and failing to inform a Promoter, Matchmaker or the IKF of any Medical occurrences will be met with the strongest of disciplinary actions.
As noted many times before, we take Fighter Medical issues VERY SERIOUSLY!

Rob Blandenburg…Extends Hand to Unite Augusta, GA Kickboxing Scene!
AND...Results from May 20th - IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Tournament

Mr. Rob Blandenburg (L) of Strike Force MMA / Kickboxing of Augusta, Georgia noted In the IKF Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing Sparring rules meeting this past weekend, that he "wants to see the sport of PKB Muay Thai / Kickboxing strive again!"

He spoke about some of his past promotions and recalled the thrill of doing them. He admitted that there has been much division over the years in the sport in not only that area but across the country and that division has hurt everyone in the sport.

However, he made it clear that he wants to change that negative into a positive and invited ALL Kickboxing clubs to come together to help the sport grow! He was optimistic about what he saw in the IKFPKB event this weekend in how several clubs came in support of the Armed Forces Festival and all of them had great attitudes and want the same thing for the sport!

It is indeed one of the IKF's missions to bring clubs together and rid them of some of the bickering and backbiting that has for far too long impeded its growth! With everyone working together for a common cause, everybody wins! Fighters win because they get to fight! Trainers and Club owners win because there will be many more people wanting to get into a sport that is striving and events are plentiful! The fans will win as they will have the opportunity to come out to first class events and enjoy all the fantastic Kickboxing action more frequently etc.! It was clear that those in attendance love the sport of Muay Thai / Kickboxing and are looking for many more events to come to the Augusta area and we plan to give them what they want!

We hope that those in the Augusta, Evans, Georgia can see that the IKFPKB and the IKF, wants and needs unity in our sport in order to give everyone what they want! We care about the fighters, trainers and of course… the fans! Mr. Blandenburg's call is one that we echo loudly and look forward to seeing you in the forthcoming events both IKF Point and Full Contact Events in the State of Georgia and beyond!

More on IKFPKB and other events in surrounding areas at www.akpromotions.org.

This was a great events and was an honor to have the tournament as entertainment for over
20,000 festival-goers and those who keep us safe in our Armed Forces! Forward March!

Forward March For
USA Muay Thai!

GREAT News!

President of USMF Michael Chase Corley, along with Board members Patrick VALOR Rivera and Thiago Azeredo engaged in a very productive conference call with the President of the IKF, Steve Fossum, earlier today!

Personal agendas, politics, past negative experiences (From former leadership of the USMF) as well as egos-were set aside for the common goal of exploring ways that we can collaborate and work TOGETHER!

"Our mission is to unify Muay Thai in the United States, discover and develop star athletes across the country, and seek to help organize regular shows so that our athletes gain the necessary competitive experience both here and abroad through a unified standard." said Corley.

"This is not about sanctioning bodies or letters on a poster." Said Fossum. "This is about one common goal of developing and growing a strong foundation of Muay Thai in America so that TEAM USA is ready when the Olympics come calling."

USMF will also continue looking at ways to find funding for the Team USA qualified athletes to travel internationally. These athletes will be selected through a National Muaythai Ranking system being developed by the USMF and the other associations and organizations working with them.

In all, USA Muay Thai needs to become a true POWER House in International Muaythai fast as the Olympics is quickly approaching! Although there is much to do, today's call shows promise as those involved touched on ways that we can grow "Olympic Muaythai" in California and beyond.

"This is not just a California thing to us." said Fossum. "Our work will include assisting the growth of the USMF membership nationwide through many of our other IKF sanctioned events along with the other Tournaments and organizations."

Later this week the IKF will post a more detailed article looking at what this partnership per say (organization wise, not anything financial) will be working on.

Together the organizational plan includes the leadership of IFMA, International Federation of Muaythai Amateur, the USA Team organization of the USMF and the talent production coming from the main three Tournament events around the country which include;

  • IKF World Classic in July in Orlando, Florida organized by the IKF.

  • IKF East Coast Classic in October in South Carolina organized by Johnny Davis.

  • IKF West Classic in California organized by the IKF.

  • TBA, Classic Muay Thai World Expo Tournament in June in Iowa organized by Pete and Pam Peterson.

All of these tournaments will help in developing as well as finding the best Muay Thai fighters in the USA for the eventual Team USA. The IKF will also work with other IKF Sanctioned events around the USA to develope this talent as well.

In all, with the strength of these organizations and tournaments there is so much that can be accomplished here as a group instead of several different entities all trying to grow.

"We are pleased that the IKF is on the same page as the USMF and we are excited of what we can do working together as opposed to working against each other." said Patrick Rivera. "The future is bright for AMERICAN MUAYTHAI, Go Team USA!"

Look for our follow-up article to come later this week with more details about what all is happening.

"FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS"
April 28th, 2017 - Bogart, Georgia, USA

Although a small card, it was the first IKF Event by IKF Promoter Yahosuah "Yoshi" Yahudah in Bogart, Georgia. Yahudah did a fine job with this event and will only get better as he continues to promote. Those in attendance at the Athens Arena…which by the way is a perfect setup for fights, complete with trust lighting, staging and a huge Screen…really seem to enjoy the action! The exhibition boxing matches were great fillers for the show as well.

The next show is planned for June 30, 2017 but is not yet confirmed. The fighters and trainers on the show also did an excellent job and gave a great showing for our sport! IKF EAST COAST CLASSIC
ADDING IKF UNITED STATES & NORTH AMERICAN TITLES

More Information at www.AKPromotions.org

IKF Promoter Johnny Davis and his AK Promotions are adding something new to the IKF East Coast Classic this year. In addition to the IKF East Coast Classic Tournament Titles, AK Promotions is also adding several IKF USA National titles and an IKF Junior Amateur North American Title to the event. This years Tournament will be the Fifth Annual IKF East Coast Classic Tournament (IKF ECC) in Myrtle Beach South Carolina at the Crown Reef Conference Center!

The IKF ECC will consist of 3 major events:

  1. A Friday Night Super Show at 7:PM
  2. The Saturday IKF East Coast Preliminary Tournament & Title bouts from 8:30 AM till 5:PM.
  3. And another Super Show on Saturday night starting at 7:PM!

Both Friday and Saturday Night's Shows will consist of IKF East Coast Titles as well as IKF United States Title Divisions! "This weekend will become an incredible milestone for our sport in the most positive way! It's simply a major effort to properly promote our sport and our fighters at the level deserving and along with the IKF, we, at AK Promotions, plan to give it all we have to deliver the goods!" said Johnny Davis.

Davis continues, "This event will be like none other before! Although it will be open to up to 4 fighters per bracket in a tournament format…the US and one North American title bouts are not a "tournament title." If you win, you will be the Certified IKF United States and, or Junior North American Champion in those divisions!"

The title is defendable by any promoter in the United States or in North America with AK Promotions having first Rights of Refusal. AK Promotions was allowed one slot in the tournament to choose someone who they felt qualified and 3 slots are left for anyone in the USA or North America to compete for that title if they are an amateur and have a proven record…regardless of their organization affiliation!

The weights and rule styles available are listed below. "As you will see, all of the fighters initially chosen for these titles have impressive records and, or are extremely talented and qualified." Says Davis.

Fighters looking to fill the remaining 3 contender spots will need to be serious and as ready as they can be for this event. For adults, headgear will be required for the first preliminary bout but the headgear will come off for the Championship bouts. (All the 'Tournament' bouts are required to have headgear) Fighters will be required to register for the tournament. The tournament registration fee starts at $80. All fighters are responsible for their own travel and lodging for this event. After a fighter becomes the established champion for their division, there will be additional perks like assistance with travel, food etc. for future shows. Moreover, if fighting on an AK Promotions event, AK Promotions is open to bringing in fighters from all over the USA and or North America to contend for each fighter's championship as they continue to grow. If anyone doubts this… ask those who've competed on an AK Promotions event in the past…especially in California.

Although registration for the IKF East Coast Classic Tournament will not start until after the IKF World Classic which is July 21st, 22nd & 23rd, 2017 Trainers are encouraged to submit their fighter (s) for approval for the special IKF Title bout divisions.
