IKF
Announces Strategic Agreement With
Competition Technology
For Independent Kickboxing & Muay Thai
DATABASE

The challenge for kickboxing sanctioning bodies to ensure that they have reliable information for events they sanction took an important step forward with the announcement today that the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) has entered into a strategic agreement with Competition Technology for an independent database and web service. The IKF - a worldwide sanctioning body for both professional and amateur Kickboxing & Mauy Thai events - has agreed to adopt usage of the new database and web service from Competition Technology.

The database and web service will be made available through a web site that is currently in final testing and is expected to be available at the end of the year. It will enable sanctioning bodies to get reliable information for events they sanction. This would include information like fighters' win-loss records, the sanctioning body for a given fight, promoter details, event officials, rule styles, weight classes etc.

"There is currently no existing solution dedicated to this need and the final product has always seemed to be out of reach," said IKF President and CEO Steve Fossum. "We sanction hundreds of events and we devote a great deal of time and resources ensure the legitimacy of the events we sanction. There have been multiple efforts to address this need in the past by other sanctioning bodies but none have succeeded, so we're excited that there's finally a technology company like Competition Technology that's focused on independently serving the needs of sanctioning bodies like the IKF."

In addition to helping sanctioning bodies, the Kickboxing & Muay Thai service can help increase fighter safety. Sanctioning bodies and matchmakers will find it easier to avoid pairing fighters with experience mismatches, or inadvertently allowing professionals to fight as amateurs, etc. The need for such functionality surfaced during the beta-testing period that the IKF entered into in April 2010.

John Tafoya, Founder and General Manager of Competition Technology, said: "We are very excited that the IKF has agreed to adopt the Kickboxing & Muay Thai service. We're thankful for the invaluable feedback we've received during beta testing from one of the world's leading kickboxing and Muay Thai sanctioning bodies. The IKF's feedback during testing will help ensure the relevance and usefulness of the service.""

Under the agreement, the IKF will continue as a strategic advisor for the Kickboxing & Muay Thai service and will receive further customizations to the existing tournament-management solution provided by Competition Technology, for the IKF's annual World Classic tournaments - including IKF event branding in Competition Technology's seemeactive.com™. service. Competition Technology will get premium-placement advertising on IKFKickboxing.com and will be the exclusive technology provider for the IKF World Classic tournaments.

Tafoya added that "We are hopeful that IKF's leadership and vision for this independent, organization-neutral service will lead to adoption from other sanctioning bodies as we finish this testing phase and release the service to the web."

Johnny Davis' AK Promotions Announces...
Events For 2011... Plus... Adds A New Fight Venue!

AK Promotions posted their first date for their IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing Championship fights with the California Athletic Commission to be on Sunday, January 16th, 2011 at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento, California. The three day Holiday weekend celebrated as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday is an excellent weekend to host such exciting sporting event for those in the area looking for something to do with the extra time.

The beautiful Doubletree Hotel Grand Ballroom will be the location for this spectacular show. Fighters from across the State will fill the undercard along with some of the normal champions featuring.. newly crowned IKF Welterweight Muay Thai Champion Daniel "Hitman" Hodges of Rocklin, California will be stepping up to fight for the IKF West Coast Title taking on undefeated contender Anthony Gonzales of Dublin, California.

Additionally,
IKF United States Champion Jon "The Hawk" Pryor
of Sacramento, Champion will defend his title against tough Josh Kretchmann of Elk Grove, California and IKF West Coast Champion T.J. Arcangle of San Francisco, California is expected fight on the show as well. Plus, headlining the show will be the conclusion of the IKF United States Super Heavyweight Championship elimination tournament between 265lbs Manny Mancha of Fresno, California taking on 250lb John Hurny of Dublin, California.

Both fighters ended their last bouts on October 8th, 2010 in one round with spectacular knockouts! Hurny scored a huge overhand right to KO, 6'8" Xavier Vigney of Vallejo, California and Mancha took out Hugo Dominguez of Patterson, California in only 14 seconds of the first round with a huge kick to the head! AKP is looking for future opponents with proven records for any of the aforementioned fighters even if they are not currently in the IKF ranking as some of them anticipate possible world title fights in 2011.

Another deal has been confirmed with AK Promotions and local Strikes Entertainment Center in conjunction with Coaches Sports Bar (Below) of Rocklin, California and Elk Grove, California. AK Promotions will be promoting a series of smaller events at these well equipped facilities complete with state of the art lighting, sound, full bars, restaurants, bowling, arcades, rock climbing and large screens throughout the entire facility.

Coaches Sports Bar's quaint atmosphere will provide a perfect fight night for any sports fan! Coaches Sports Bar is the closest thing to a Las Vegas Casino short of being at an actual casino like Thunder Valley Casino located in Lincoln, California. The first show at Coaches Sports Bar will be held on Friday, March 11th, 2011 at their Rocklin, California facility located at 5681 Lonetree Blvd. in Rocklin, California. AK Promotions is possibly looking at other events in May and July.

However, due to the size of the venues, those interested in attending will need to purchase their tickets as soon as they go on sale or risk the high probability of the event selling out because of the large following for Kickboxing and AK Promotions events in the area

Although these shows will be in smaller venues, they will not be scaled down in quality as they will have some of the best fighters in the sport on the card with great food, drinks and entertainment! As a backup to selling out the venue, there will be an overflow party room where fight fans can... for a cheaper price, see the fights on huge wall to wall projected screens... complete with table, chairs, food and drink service. Additionally, you will have to be 21 or over to the attend these exciting fights as it stands right now.

For the first half of the year, AK Promotions is planning an exciting fight season for fans to enjoy the great sport of IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing. Kickboxing is one of the greatest contact sports on the planet! AKP is determined to show the world why Kickboxing deserves to stand beside other contact sports and is always seeking sponsorship partners. AK Promotions is also pleased to announce the continued support of Markstein Beverage distributors of Budweiser Beer of Sacramento, California for 2011.

More information on tickets etc. will be available at
www.AKPromotions.org
or here at the IKF website. For question contact Johnny Davis at johnnyd@akpromotions.org (916) 205-4762 or at 630-9254.

IKF PKB PROMOTERS...
SEND IN YOUR
2011 IKF/PKB TOURNAMENT REQUESTS ASAP!

From IKF/ PKB President Johnny Davis

Dear IKF/PKB Promoters and Potential Promoters,
We've had another exciting year of IKF Point Kickboxing©! With over 23 events this past year, I'm proud to say that the IKF/PKB continued to grow in 2010! So many fighters have gotten their start in the IKF/PKB in its nine years in existence and the results of it being the incubator for the sport is becoming more obvious each year. I could give so many examples of those that grew up on the IKF Point Kickboxing Circuit that are today IKF World Classic Champions and top amateur and professional fighters. Therefore, I hope that you will take the opportunity to join one of the fastest growing circuits in the martial arts for 2011...IKF Point Kickboxing©

Moreover, I'm elated that IKF Point Kickboxing is apart the largest martial arts tournament in the United States...if not the world this year. The World Games Super Grand Martial Arts Tournament host over 2000 martial arts competitors from around the world and this December 28th, 2010, the IKF Point Kickboxing divisions will be one of the exciting martial arts divisions included in the tournament that will be held in Sacramento California at the Doubletree Hotel.

IKF Point Kickboxing Divisions is a great addition to existing martial arts events and, or it can stand alone. Either way, IKF Point Kickboxing division will bring your event a lot of additional excitement!

The IKF/PKB is about safety and fairness for all competitors. Knockouts Are Not Allowed and matches are all semi- contact as well as full safety gear is required. Men, Women and Children compete in styles of Muay Thai, International and American High Kick Rule Styles and our safety record speaks for its self. The IKF/PKB is mostly profitable for our promoters as we try and keep our sanctioning cost down so that promoters and their clubs benefit. We also have a working relationship and understanding with most commissions as we stick to our semi contact rules etc. and they allow our circuit to exist. IKF/PKB events are sanctioned by the largest kickboxing organization in the world...the International Kickboxing Federation.

We are also excited to continue to expand our IAB Point Boxing© Division in the coming year. IAB/Point Boxing is semi contact Boxing and no knockout outs are allowed as well as it is done on the floor and not in a ring. Participants increase their accuracy, speed and improve their overall boxing techniques. Since boxing is a primary tool in the sport of kickboxing, adding IAB/Point Boxing© divisions to your events, can only be an asset to future competitors. IAB/Point Boxing© divisions also gives your competitors another option to compete in while adding to the bottom-line of your event.

Additionally, we work with you from start to finish to see that your event is successful. So, no matter what part of the country or the world you live in, if you are interested in becoming a promoter for this exciting semi contact sport and create a circuit in your area, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Note: There are some blackout days, so we will let you know if your date is approved as we try and keep dates and events as separated as possible in the same area. November 14th, 2010 - Fresno, California, USA

Moving Forward While Remembering The Past

New IKF Promoter JR Correa and his associates, Keo Sychanthavong and John Cho not only hosted an exciting and well organized event yesterday in Fresno, California but they also brought back some great memories. The three teamed up with the Promotional skills of AK Promotions Johnny Davis and due to the combination of everyone working together, they filled the Radisson Ballroom in the middle of a Sunday afternoon in the heart of the NFL's Pro Football season!

This event was like an IKF reunion of the 90's. As many here know, the IKF was created in California in August of 1992. That year IKF sanctioned it's first 2 events. In 1993 the number doubled to 6 events and in 1994, to 11 events. Keep in mind, the IKF didn't have an internet web site until late 1997 and with it, the IKF growth from 1998 to present has been beyond any previous expectations.

By the end of 1999 the IKF had awarded some of the most well known Pro and Amateur fighters IKF Titles such as Don Wilson, Dennis Alexio, Rick Rufus, Juan Torres, Duke Roufus, Francis Farley, George Tsutsui, Khunpon, Ramona Gatto, Saeksan Saengchan, Ramona Gatto, Paul Biafore, Dave Marinoble, Danny Steele, Chris Wright, Eric Regan, Tommy Kimber, Kongnapa, Holly Fernley, Francis Farley, Chuck Liddell, Chad Sawyer, Jongsanan Fairtex, Manual Quezada, Trisha Hill, Trevor Smandych, Rudy Ott, Ali Hallak, Duane Ludwig, and Anthony Bartinelli just to name a few. Other well known fighters had either fought for IKF Titles or were part of an IKF sanctioned event such as Curtis Bush, Stan Longinidis, Grant Barker, Maurice Travis, Dewey Cooper, Melchor Menor, Manson Gibson, David Cummings, and many others.

That same year in 1999 saw the birth of the IKF's sister organization for MMA, the ISCF which saw future MMA Stars such as Quintin "Rampage" Jackson and Mike Pyle start their MMA fight career's on an ISCF Sanctioned event in Tennessee.

In forming that foundation those first few years in California the IKF aligned with well organized promoters such as Abe Belardo, Jacob "Stitch" Duran, Tat Mau Wong, Bob Solano, Johnny Davis & Sam Montgomery, Eric Nolan, Nasser Niavaroni, Tim and Dan Stell and Dan Verdugo, just to name a few. Success on these events came early such as on March 27th, 1993 at the Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco, California when promoter Tat Mau Wong hosted his first IKF sanctioned event which had over 1,300 in attendance. A year later on March 26th, 1994 at the University Of San Francisco in San Francisco, California, Wong set a new record in the state of California for attendance for an all-amateur kickboxing show at 1,612 tickets sold, a record which still stands today.

This past Sunday in Fresno was like a reunion of the IKF's beginning. Promoter Tat Mau Wong was in the house again cheering on some of his fighters and even thinking about promoting another IKF Kickboxing event again. Former IKF Fighter Keopheth Sychanthavong was now training his own fighters on this night. We even saw trainers who are still giving their all such as John Cho who goes back years with IKF history. CSAC Judge Ralph McKnight was also in the house. McKnight was and still is associated to former IKF Promoter Abe Belardo who is also a judge now with the CSAC and the NSAC. Abe's daughter, Karina AyonAyon, was also there as the CSAC Timekeeper. And of course, still a big part of the IKF was Promoter Johnny Davis.

It was a great time had by all and a welcome reunion of many who were valuable parts of the IKF's growth here in California. As noted, this event was a great success based on one main factor, "Teamwork!" We look forward to more events by the combined efforts of Johnny Davis' AK Promotions and Punch & Kick Fight Promotions (PAK) in 2011.

Here are the event results below.
